The work is piling in!
Baby and me dragged ourselves away from the temptations of fried fast food to IMM’s kopitiam only to end up having…….

Fried scallops and omelette bento.

and Omurice with fried fish.
Haha!

I’ve always wanted to dine at MOF for their pleasant looking desserts! Imagine my excitment when i discover them having their own dessert menu! :D

This is my sukiyaki with veggy tempura. Everything was decent but it was quite expensive.. the sukiyaki was boiling hot, allowing you to crack the raw egg in it to cook it (hee~ maybe next time i can bring extra eggs and crabsticks to add in).

This is baby’s salmon with chicken placed on top of a flame. Decent but not the best..
Here comes the interesting part! Desserts! Desserts come at $3 in addition to set meals..

My yummilicious fried sweetpotato and yam together with softserve with green tea and red bean sauce! The warm sweet potato is reaaaaally sweet even though they did not add any sugar to it! The card tells you the right way to eat it.. spoon abit of everything and feel the warmth+cold in melting in your mouth~ yum yum! I love it! It’s everything i like in one dish!

Baby’s boring vanilla ice cream with mochi. :p

Sunday was spent lazing around at home playing UNO, stress, mahjong, scrabble, eating home-cooked food, laughing at our recordings and take silly shots. Haha!
Back from orientation camp!

Almu is my group with really patient and friendly leaders. (: Up above is our handmade flag inspired by a windmill..
Had lots of activities with the more memorable ones bring the really awesome night walk at 2.30am in the morning and the human version of arcade football.

We had packed food for 2 meals and for the rest, I tried out food from all the various canteens.. affordable but nothing splendid… yet. Design school’s malay food, western and teh bing (made by uncle) are raved by many though. (:
I have to say that what made the camp most fruitful were the people. Every single person in my group has their distinct style and are really interesting and fun to be with.
SHIJIE THE NIGHT CYCLIST!!!!!!!!!!
Danicia the really friendly girl.
SM the da bian who calls me tofu.
Lorraine the easily amused girl with highlighted extensions.
Jing guo the guy who shrugs and not talk.
Sufiyan the yo-yo guy~
Jessie the fashion designer with curls.
Joyce the drama queen!
Leon the guy who knows how to look good.
Thomas the tall, tanned one.
Yan Jun the business style.
Damien the good speaker.
Terrance the Jay Chou (haha!).
Arun the tanned girl who knows alot about hair.
Xiang Yu the pretty girl.
Sheena the one with thick long and neat fringe who likes to wear black.
Not forgetting our lovely GLs – Gary, Kaysee, LL and PY.
I missed out some because they were absent and i don’t know how to spell their names..
I’m really glad to know all of you. (:
I’m back from camp! So tired right now and way way behind on my postings!

Happy birthday to mummy! (: Up above is my drawing of the family in chibi form~

Sis organized a family dinner for all of us at Waraku~ been a long time since we dined out together.
We got a private room all to ourselves and it was really cosy and relaxing~ you can kneel down on pillows and eat, just like the japanese!

Pictured above is what we had.. decent food but what really makes it all worthwhile and enjoyable is the company. :D
Not posting till Friday! I’ll be away from home.

After making the steamed banana cake, i decided to make baked ones to make a comparison. Chanced upon a banana cake recipe from Baking Mum and decided to give it a try since i have all the ingredients on hand. (:

The result did not disappoint! I halved the recipe and used less sugar.. the mixing of the batter was straightforward. I replaced the banana essence with vanilla essence and the whole house smelt like vanilla + banana ice cream when it was baking!
The cake turned out so soft and fluffy which is quite a pleasant surprise to me. (: It literally sprung back when i depress it! So fluffy and moist~~
Give it a try if you have the ingredients on hand!
Personally i prefer the baked version to the steamed one.. cakes just taste yummier with butter!

Hakka Niang Toufu is different from the ones sold outside. Instead of the pale white fish paste that goes on most yong tofus, we have minced meat mixed with fishpaste, with bits of water chestnut for that extra crunch and spring onions for bits of green colour. Taste it all in one bite for that interesting texture and taste. (:

Bittergourd is well loved by sis and dad~ but an absolute no-no for b. :p

Brinjal is my favourite!
Made them with ma yesterday. b came to try even though he’s feeling unwell(again..).. take care of yourself ok..
/edit/

A close up of the cake sliced~ I baked it in a loaf pan..
What do you think? Hee.. personally the cake looks kind of pale to me.. maybe it’s because i didn’t use overiped bananas.. also it’s abit dry the next day if it’s not re-steamed.
I steamed it in the rice cooker this morning and had warm and soft banana cake with peanut butter and cinnamon for breakfast! (: Yums.

Steamed banana cake! No butter! :0
I ate a piece right out of the steamer and indeed it’s softt~ like banana chinese steamed cake. It’s very fragrant too~

Here’s the new bento belt in action.
Bringing my first steam cake attempt to the guinea pigs later.. :p
recipe from Amanda’s ‘Held by Love, baked from scratch’~

$3.50 for a juicy, easy to the bite and tasty chicken chop that is about the size of both my palms and buttered bread, completed with a generous serving of fat fries. Not a bad deal. (:
That was b’s plate. He added extra fries to mine at no charge in an attempt to make me fat, and i actually fell for it by finishing everything. :/

Headed to Vivocity after that.. i love the sky park.. it’s a beautiful and spacious place to just sit and talk and relax.. let’s try a picnic there one day~ (:
and did you see something that looks weird? Hee.

First time cooking mee suah with b~ Looks quite good? Hee..
Commonly served during birthdays and CNY, mee suah symbolises longevity. Foochows eat Red wine mee suah which is meesuah in a red broth that looked pretty interesting but i’ve not tried it before.

Coupled with 2 red eggs, it makes an auspicious birthday surprise for b’s mummy.
The simple pleasures in life. (:

Chicken cutlet with sunny side up and a huge bowl of chicken rice @ SP! Ah~ not forgetting a bowl of soup and cucumber. (: @ $2.00 + 0.50 (for the egg)
There’re 12 different sauces to choose from namely lime, satay, bandung, black pepper, sambal, BBQ, rendang, teriyaki, honey, oyster, sweet and sour and thai~ (i chose black pepper and b chose satay)
The meal is really filling, chicken was pleasant to the tastebuds and not tough at all. Rice was fragrant and yumyum with the soup~
Happy meal with happy company! :D
